The Chahal Foundation was formed on July 17th, 2014 with the ambitious mission of making a meaningful global impact on the lives of those less fortunate. The basic premise of this foundation is that people across the world share a common dream, a universal right: and that’s the right to happiness.
It doesn’t matter where we live or what we look like. It doesn’t matter whether we are rich or poor. It doesn’t matter what our religious beliefs are. We have the right to live without fear. We have the right to a better education. We all have the right to a better life.
These are bonds that link us all. The Chahal Foundation evolved out of the BeProud Foundation which formed in August 2012, following the Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting, a tragic day when a gunman killed six people and wounded four others.
The Chahal Foundation takes the original mission into another dimension by consolidating its efforts into the following four areas:
Creating awareness of social causes
University scholarships and mentorships
Supporting disaster relief efforts
Improving schools in third world countries
The work of the foundation builds on Chahal’s years of support for social causes and education including scholarships at New York’s Pace University. In addition his support for disaster relief through organizations such as the Red Cross is being expanded, as is the mission to upgrade schooling for impoverished youth — by working with various NGOs in India and Africa.
The Chahal Foundation is pleased to accept assistance by like-minded contributors, as well as through your time, effort, and ideas. Internships are also welcome.
